Position
Part-time Academic position teaching Course ANSC2003 (Companion Animal Behaviour) in the 2019 Winter semester. The lectures for this course are currently scheduled for Tuesday/Thursday/Friday (13:35-14:25).

Department/Location
Haley Institute, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus.

Pay Rate: In accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.

Work Assignment
The incumbent will be responsible for preparing and delivering course material related to Companion Animal Behaviour, to a class of 80-100 students which includes students registered in the Diploma of Veterinary Technology, B.Sc. Agriculture, and B.Sc. Bioveterinary Science.  Core concepts to be taught include animal training techniques, ontogeny of behavior, body language, socialization and communication, and fearfulness and aggressive behavior.  The emphasis is on dogs and cats, with some horse content. This is a lecture/discussion course with no scheduled laboratory period. The Part-time Academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test preparation and evaluation.  The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Requirements of Position:   
At least one year experience teaching in post-secondary education, with excellent oral and written communication skills.  A Ph.D. in animal behaviour or related discipline, or a Master's degree with two years of experience.
