Teaching Assistant Position

Position:  CUPE –  A Teaching Assistant (65) is required for the course ANSC3000 (Animal Breeding) in the 2018 Winter semester.
 
Department Location: Haley Institute, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus
Pay Rate:  In accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.
Work Assignment:
Working with animal breeding and genetics software.  Assist Instructor in the preparation of drafting questions or goals for the students.  Required to attend all labs and classes as needed, mark lab assignments and provide assistance to students.
 
Requirements of Position:
Experience in animal science required. Knowledge of animal breeding and genetics would be preferred.

Position:  CUPE – A Demonstrator is required for the course NUTR3001 (Applied Animal Nutrition) in the 2018 Winter semester.
 
Department Location: Haley Institute, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus

Pay Rate:  In accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.

Work Assignment:
Assist students in the laboratory with lab exercises, conducting lab demonstrations and assisting with lab set up.  Maximum number of hours for the semester is 32 hours.

Requirements of Position:
Experience in animal science and nutrition is preferred.

Department Location: Haley Institute, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus

Work Assignment:
 
Responsibilities to include: class preparation, working with students, providing office hours and assisting students with oral presentations, project proposals and literature reviews, attend weekly meetings with supervisor, in-class marking of student presentations, compiling student presentation marks and will be expected to attend all classes and provide input on exercises.
 
Requirements of Position:

Mature, experienced graduate student with a background in Animal Science.

Lab set up and clean up.  Provide assistance to students.  Attend all labs and provide input on exercises. Required to mark assignments.

Requirements of Position:
Experience in animal science required.  Background in products courses would be considered an asset.

Work Assignment:
Marking course assignments as required as per the approved number of hours indicated below:
 ANSC3005 – maximum number of hours is 32.
ANSC2003 – maximum number of hours is 50.
Various courses in the Veterinary Technology program – maximum number of hours is 60.
 
Requirements of Position:
Background in Animal Science (ANSC3005/ANSC2003) and Veterinary technology/terminology experience would be considered assets.​
