POSITION: Sessional Lecturer, IDHS 1000.03, Introduction to Health and Health Professions

PAY RATE: The pay rate for all Part Time Academic positions is in accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement.

NOTE: This course is taught exclusively via distance learning using Dalhousie’s web-based Brightspace platform.

WORK ASSIGNMENT:  Responsibilities will include all aspects of development of course materials for online delivery, online teaching, and administration of the course.  This course provides students a philosophical and practical scope on health. A historical perspective of health and healthcare is offered and current international, national and local issues are considered. The course includes an examination of theories, research, politics and practices that have helped to define health, and health promotion as an umbrella for health-related activities. The maximum enrolment for this course is 100.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:  Undergraduate degree in a health profession and a complementary graduate degree are required. Previous teaching experience in a university setting with a thorough understanding of the subject matter as well as online course delivery is required.
