The History of Science and Technology Programme (HOST) at the University of King's College invites applications for teaching assistants for its two courses on the history of technology and engineering (HSTC 1800 and HSTC 1801) for the 2013-14 academic year. These courses offer a broad introductory survey to the history of technology. Taken together, they fulfill the university’s writing requirement.
TA duties will include attending lectures (2 hrs/week), helping students with in-class exercises, leading tutorials (1-2 hrs/week), marking assignments and tests (2-3hrs/week), holding office hours (1-2 hrs/week), and attending teaching staff meetings (1 hr/week).
 
Candidates should have at least an undergraduate degree and display a strong interest in both science and the humanities. Candidates must also demonstrate a deep understanding of English grammar and have strong writing skills. Experience with ESL students will be considered an asset. Preference will be given to applicants with relevant teaching experience or education.
 
The pay scale will match the collective agreement between Dalhousie and CUPE. The University of King's College is an equal opportunity employer.
