Staff and faculty roll up their sleeves to serve the community

Posted by Faculty of Management on May 30, 2013 in Community Highlights

Faculty of Management staff and faculty are supporting two community service agencies by rolling up their sleeves to do manual labour. This Thursday will be the Faculty's fourth annual United Way Community Service Day.

Over 40 volunteers will leave their desks behind to do yard work, gardening, painting, scrubbing and other manual labour tasks that are difficult for community agencies to find the resources to get it done. This year, St. Paul's Family Resource Community Garden and Spencer House Seniors Centre will be receiving be the beneficiaries.

In past years, participants have found that the day has given them a great sense of accomplishment, a deeper appreciation for the work done by United Way community agencies and a chance to get to know their co-workers better.
