SURGE x OTN Discover Coding - Python

Join SURGE and Ocean Tracking Network (OTN) in our Discover Coding series! This semester we will be moving our coding series to Tuesdays from 11:35-12:55 pm. We will be exploring data manipulation within Python, following the Software Carpentry Lesson. Each week will build off the last – if you miss a week, check out the previous link to follow along! No experience necessary. If you attended our Python series last semester, this workshop will be completely new and help you further build on your Python skills. If you missed our last series, be sure to check out https://datacarpentry.org/python-ecology-lesson/ and familiarize yourself with the first two lessons ("Before We Start" and "Short Introduction to Python"). We will be jumping off directly from lesson 3 and won't be covering the basics in any great detail, so check those out to make sure you're up to speed.

Lunch will be provided for the kick off of the series – January 14, and the end of the series - March 31. All other weeks will be a BYOL (Bring Your Own Lunch). Coffee will be provided every week.

Be sure to come prepared and have the appropriate software downloaded. SURGE will open at 11:00 for students to come and get ready before the workshop officially starts at 11:35 am.

Workshops are free and open to everyone!

Please email surge@dal.ca if you have questions.
