Austin and Hempel Lecture Series

A series of distinguished lectures sponsored by the Department of Philosophy, Dalhousie University.  Public Lecture by Dr. Dale Jamieson, Founding Director of Environmental Studies and Professor of Environmental Studies and Philosophy, New York University.  "Loving Nature"  Love is important for many reasons, including the fact that it motivates us to protect what we love.  Yet philosophers writing on love have focused almost entirely on familial love.  In this talk, inspired by some remarks by Iris Murdoch, Dr. Jamieson will develop an account of loving nature that provides an important moral psychological resource for nature protection.
