Mini Law School: Assisted Dying in Canada

Since Parliament passed Canada’s medical assistance in dying (MAiD) legislation in June of 2016, nearly 5,000 people have died through MAiD. Many more have been comforted knowing that MAiD could be available to them should they want it. Unfortunately, others are unable to access MAiD for a variety of reasons. In this session, Schulich School of Law Professor Jocelyn Downie will describe the current state of MAiD law, policy, and practice and explore the pressure points that lie behind various efforts at reform.
