Faculty of Science Bicentennial Lecture: a special edition of the Environment, Sustainability, and Society Lecture Series
OUR ENERGY FUTURE: LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES AND ELECTROCHEMICAL ENERGY STORAGE
National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada/Tesla-Canada Industrial Research Chair, 2017 Gerhard Herzberg Gold Medal for Science and Engineering Award Winner, and Physics Professor at Dalhousie University.
Jeff Dahn is an award-winning scientist recognized as one of the world’s pioneering developers of the lithium-ion battery now used in laptops and cell-phones. In 2015 he began a 5-year research agreement with Tesla Motors, marking the first time the electric vehicle company partnered with a university scientist. In this lecture Dr. Dahn will highlight Dalhousie and Canadian contributions to the science and technology of batteries that help with society’s transformation to renewable energy and electrical vehicle use.
Presented by the Faculty of Science, in partnership with the College of Sustainability, to celebrate Dalhousie University’s 200th Anniversary.
Reception to follow.
