Faculty of Science Bicentennial Lecture
In celebration of Dalhousie's 200th Anniversary, the Faculty of Science is hosting a Bicentennial Lecture, delivered by physics professor and Dal alumnus, Jeff Dahn (BSc'78, Physics).
Dr. Dahn is recognized across the world as the leading scientific researcher on Lithium-ion (Li-on) batteries. His long career in both fundamental and applied research has won him many accolades, including the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Gerhard Herzberg Canada Gold medal for Science in Engineering in February 2017.
His latest research as the NSERC/Tesla Canada Industrial Research Chair aims to increase the energy density and lifetime of Li-ion batteries. In turn. Dr. Dahn will help drive down the cost of using batteries in electric vehicles and grid energy storage.
Reception to follow the Bicentennial Lecture.
