Sustainable Oceans Conference - H20: Inspiring Happy & Healthy Oceans
Who We Are
Sustainable Oceans is an annual student-led conference organized by the Master of Marine Management Students of the Marine Affairs Program at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In its seventh year, and is the only student-led conference of its kind in Atlantic Canada.
H20: Inspiring Happy & Healthy Oceans
Nova Scotia is Canada's self-proclaimed "Ocean's Playground" yet there is often a disconnect between us and the ocean. This year we aim to promote behavioural change to inspire ocean literacy. Ocean news is often full of negative perspective – we strive to highlight the positives in ocean research and management through our three subthemes:
· Connection – the personal or spiritual connection to the marine environment
· Innovation –new and unique approaches to addressing ocean issues
· Optimism – recognizing the positive strides and solutions to improve the health of our oceans
The conference is free, public event, accessible to all who are interested in learning more about the oceans and becoming engaged in marine conservation and stewardship.
Sustainable Oceans 2018 will include two inspiring keynote speakers, student oral and poster presentations, additional subtheme presenters, a photo and art contest and display, and engaging booths representing local marine-related organizations.
