Dalhousie University presents our PepsiCo Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 5, 2023.
Grace Calnan, Volleyball
Third-year middle blocker Grace Calnan is this week’s female PepsiCo Athlete of the Week.
Grace helped lead the Tigers to two wins last week.
She had three kills, three digs and two aces for five points in the Tigers 3-1 win over the visiting Memorial Sea-Hawks Monday night.
In Friday night’s 3-0 victory over the UNB REDS, Grace earned 12.0 points with eight kills, five blocks and a dig.
Grace was steady for the Tigers again on Saturday, adding another 12 kills, seven digs and five blocks in their 3-2 loss to the Acadia Axewomen.
An environmental science student, Grace is from Dartmouth, N.S.
Michael Donovan, Volleyball
Second-year outside hitter Michael Donovan is this week’s male PepsiCo Athlete of the Week.
Michael led the Tigers to a two-match sweep of the UNB REDS over the weekend.
He had a match-high 21 kills, plus seven digs and three aces for 21.0 points in the Tigers Friday night 3-2 win in Halifax.
Michael was impressive again the next day, posting another 20 kills to go along with nine digs, three aces and two blocks in the Tigers 3-2 victory.
He is currently ranked fifth in the RSEQ in kills/set and sixth in aces/set.
A native of London, Ont., Michael is an engineering student.
