Bragging rights: 'The quality of Christmas trees that you're getting out of Nova Scotia is unmatched'

Jay Woodworth, a Christmas tree specialist for Perennia Food and Agriculture Inc. and a Faculty of Agriculture alum (BScAg'16, MScAg'20), works with growers to support Nova Scotia's Christmas tree industry — which is worth more than $15 million annually.

Christmas tree production is one of Nova Scotia’s oldest rural industries and the province is known worldwide for its quality balsam fir.

"The quality of Christmas trees that you're getting out of our province are unmatched," she said in a recent Why Ag? video segment. "Nova Scotia is famous for the research that they've been doing specifically in this area, and we've actually been able to make huge strides in Christmas tree production."
