Students chip in for Community Day

- September 19, 2018

New and returning students come to Dalhousie every fall from across Canada and around the world, many eager to give back to the local community. Last Saturday, more than 100 of those students turned out under sunny skies to volunteer as part of the university's annual Community Day.

Now in its 11th year, the day-long initiative provides an easy way for students to get involved with charitable organizations in Halifax and the province. This year, students leant a hand to a wide variety of organizations, including Feed Nova Scotia, the Discovery Centre, McPhee Centre for Creative Learning, the Dalhousie Alumni Association Women's Division, among others.

Dalhousie Residence/ Student Life, the Bissett Student Success Centre, the International Centre, and the Dalhousie Student Union all contributed to organizing this year's event.

Dal Student Life's Street Team photographer Carter Hutton was there to capture some of the giving spirit.
