(Halifax, N.S.) - Dalhousie University presents our MUSCLE MLK Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 11, 2018.

Isabel Sarty, Swimming

First-year swimmer Isabel Sarty is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Female Athlete of the Week.

Isabel led the Tigers to their 17th straight AUS championship title over the weekend.

She won gold medals in the 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle events, recording three lifetime best performances and set a new Dalhousie record in the 200m freestyle event.

Isabel also swam to gold in all three relay events and earned both the rookie and swimmer of the championship meet honours.

A science student, Isabel is from Bedford, N.S.

Alec Karlsen, Swimming

Second-year swimmer Alec Karlsen is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Male Athlete of the Week.

Alec led the Tigers to their 20th consecutive AUS championship title this past weekend.

He recorded lifetime bests in the 200m and 400m IM events and the 200m butterfly, winning gold in all three races.

He won a fourth gold medal as part of the 800m freestyle relay team and earned a bronze in the 200m backstroke.

A native of Boerum, Norway Alec is a computer science student.
