The Dal Science BioBlitz
Explore outdoors and help Dal Science record all living things on Studley Campus
September 21, 2018
All are welcome, regardless of your species knowledge. Come by yourself, in pairs, or with a group of your friends.
Join one of our designated experts in birds, insects, plants, trees, lichen and fungi and learn about the biodiversity we share our campus with.
You may sign up for one or more of the available time slots and then select the zone or specialty once you register on the day of the event.
All time slots and zones will have expert leaders with a few specialized events below:
- 7:00-8:30am - Early morning birding event (All Zones)
- 10:00-11:30am - Freedman Plant Collection Blitz (Zone 2)
- 8:30-9:30pm - Late night bugging event (Dal main courtyard). A sheet will be set up with lights to attract the bugs.
- All-Day - Sweep-netting events (Zones 1, 2, 3, and 5 – sign-up for a zone at the registration table)
NEW: A FRIENDLY COMPETITION
Students, colleagues and friends in the Faculty of Agriculture will conduct the first bioblitz on Dalhousie's Agriculutrual Campus in Truro, NS on the same day.
Help the Studley campus team with this friendly competition — the goal is to collectively log at least 200 species to commemorate Dalhousie's 200th anniversary.
