The Dal Science BioBlitz
Explore outdoors and help Dal Science record all living things on Studley Campus
We don’t always notice all the living things around us, especially in our urban environments. But life outdoors on campus, even in the heart of Halifax, is abundant. A BioBlitz is a rapid survey of all living things in a given area.
The first ever Dal BioBlitz took place on September 8, 2016 and covered all of Studley Campus. Thank you to all the students, faculty, staff and community members who helped us log 688 observations and identify 269 species so far.
Students in an experiential learning course will work to identify unidentified organisms in our collection throughout the year. A final report will be developed—the first ever to outline the biodiversity on a Dal campus.
See you next year!
