Philips XRG3100 X-Ray Diffractometer
X-Ray diffraction allows for the identification of sediments of unknown composition and is vital to paleoenvironmental, provenance studies, and reservoir characterization, for example. The XRD is capable of qualitative analysis, and with the addition of PANalytical X'Pert Highscore Plus and the ICCD PDF-4 Integrated Data Analysis Software, semi-quantitave results are possible as well. This allows for the analysis of a large number of samples for palaeoenvironmental studies and a better understanding the characteristics of petroleum reservoir and source rocks
The XRD lab includes an oven, RO-TAP shaker for sieves, McCrone micronizing mill, PANalytical X'Pert Highscore Plus and the ICCD PDF-4 Integrated Data Analysis Software packages, analytical balance and centrifuge.
