EPSS Dirt Talk

EPSS will be hosting a DIRT Talk this Friday at 4 pm in the Milligan Room (room B0087 in the LSC)!!

Join Ray Craddock and Nora Whelan from BGC Engineering to discuss their fields in mining hydrogeology, and geohazards. Both Ray and Nora graduated from the Dalhousie Earth Science department in 2017. Afterwards, Ray completed his graduate studies in civil engineering, with a focus on hydrogeology, and pursued a career in mining hydrogeology. Nora completed her graduate studies on the geochronology of landslides in SW Yukon and worked in John Gosse’s lab performing TCN dating. Both are now employed by BGC Engineering where they work in the mining and pipeline sectors.

Mining hydrogeology and geohazards are fields that were not known to the presenters when they were studying geology as undergraduate students. They would like to discuss their respective fields and the company they work for to help build awareness of the many geoscience disciplines that are out there.

Hope to see you there!
