A Pathway to Dalhousie for International Students
 

Are you an international student who does not meet the academic and English language proficiency requirements for admission to Dalhousie University?

Overview

The International Pathway Year (IPY) Program is designed to help you complete a qualifying year and improve your English fluency to meet admission requirements for undergraduate studies at Dalhousie University. 

This unique 8-month program combines five non-credit University Preparation courses, one credit course, and intensive English language training and support, preparing you to progress into your degree program. Please visit our FAQ page for more information.

After successful completion of the IPY Program, you will directly enter your chosen undergraduate program at Dalhousie.

How to Apply

To enroll in the IPY Program, you must apply for your intended Dalhousie degree program and indicate that you will take the International Pathway Year Program prior to starting the bachelor’s degree. For step-by-step instructions, see the "Ready to Apply" section of the FAQ. Eligible Dalhousie programs include: 

  • Bachelor of Arts 
  • Bachelor of Science 
  • Bachelor of Computer Science 
  • Bachelor of Commerce 
  • Bachelor of Management 
  • Bachelor of Health Promotion 
  • Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation 

If accepted into the IPY program, your application will be moved to the following admission cycle, and you will be conditionally accepted into Dal based on successful completion of the IPY Program. Visit admission requirements for information on the prerequisites for specific degree programs.
