Dr. Dianne Tyers

Dr. Dianne Tyers became Dalhousie University’s Dean of the Faculty of Open Learning & Career Development (formerly the College of Continuing Education) in October 2019.
Dianne brings over 28 years of experience in the adult education sector to the position in a wide variety of roles (teaching, regional and operations management, training, program development, technology evaluation and program evaluation in both public and private sector organizations) along with extensive international experience (U.S.A., Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, United Arab Emirates).
After eighteen years as an entrepreneur, Dianne strongly believes that clear, simple and consistent operational processes are the starting point to providing cutting-edge, creative and wide-reaching lifelong learning programming. With a solid organizational structure to stand on, Dianne hopes to guide the College in serving all pillars of a strong and vibrant society—business, public/government services and community organizations. She is excited about the impact that her team can have locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Dianne completed her PhD at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She has an MBA from the Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada and a Master’s of Arts from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. She is a Fellow of the Business Excellence Institute, a member of Lead5050 for women in international education, and a member of The Academy of International Business.
