SRES Mentorship Program ‑ Students
Information for Students
What is it?
The Mentoring Program allows students to create a meaningful connection with a SRES alumnus. You will gain valuable information and insight about navigating and managing your program and career from someone who has been in your shoes.
Who can apply?
Students from the MREM and MES programs can apply to become a Mentee. Students must commit to initiating and maintaining regular contact with their mentor, preparing for meetings in advance, and respecting the professional and confidential nature of the relationship.
Who are the mentors?
Alumni mentors will have graduated from the MREM and MES programs at Dalhousie and will have a minimum of three years professional experience. SRES Alumni are located all over the world; however, there is a high concentration in Nova Scotia as well as Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. Matches will be made based on research/employment interests of the student and the career history of the Mentor.
How long does the program run?
Once a match is made (January each year) the program will run formally until the end of the academic year (August). The relationship may continue after this with agreement from both parties.
