Come study with us as an exchange student
What's it like to do a law school exchange with us? Hear what our exchange students have to say:
The Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University is a leader in teaching, research, lawmaking, and public policy. Our graduates work all over the world as judges, government officials, entrepreneurs, professors, journalists, lawyers, and heads of international organizations.
Ranked among the world's best law schools
We opened our doors in 1883 – the first university law school in any of the common law provinces of Canada, and the model for law schools across Canada and the Commonwealth. Today we are more vital than ever. In the 2019 rankings, Times Higher Education ranked the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University 65th in the world.
Choose from a broad range of courses
Exchange students have access to a broad selection of courses, including public law and private law, Canadian law and international law. We are also home to three pioneering institutes:
Learn from internationally renowned scholars
Come on exchange to the Schulich School of Law and learn from our internationally acclaimed faculty – committed teachers who care deeply about giving students an outstanding legal education and dynamic researchers with rich local, national, and international networks and profiles, including Canada Research Chairs, Trudeau Scholars and Fellows, Fulbright Scholars, 3M National Faculty Fellows, Fellows of the Royal Society of Canada, and numerous QCs.
Join a community of accomplished peers
Our students come to study with us from across Canada. They are highly accomplished and deeply committed to pro bono initiatives and the Weldon Tradition of Unselfish Public Service.
They also like to have fun! There are many student societies, clubs, sport intramurals, and regular social events to help you make the most of your Canadian experience. Our welcoming community makes it easy to make friends and connections you’ll keep for the rest of your life.
Pack your bags and experience life on Canada's awesome East Coast
Halifax, Nova Scotia, is a great city to live in. Surrounded on three sides by the ocean and with a population of fewer than half a million, it is a fresh, friendly, and clean city. It is also very easy to get around, and most students tend to walk or bike to the law school. Halifax is also known for its lively nightlife, mostly due to the large number of students who study here.
