We’d like to congratulate Sarah Kirby as she begins her new role as a Crown attorney in Halifax. Since 2011, Sarah was Assistant Dean, Student Services, at the Schulich School of Law.
A native of Halifax, Sarah graduated in 1994 from Dalhousie University with an honours bachelor of science degree and in 1999 from the juris doctor program. She articled with McInnes Cooper and was later appointed an associate concentrating in commercial litigation with a sub-specialty in marine law. In 2007, Sarah moved to Metcalf and Company, then in 2009 to Ritch Durnford. At each firm, she provided dispute resolution, litigation and regulatory advice, as well as representation to a variety of commercial clients.
In 2011, Sarah was appointed Assistant Dean, Student Services, at Schulich Law. In addition to her role here, Sarah was also a Small Claims Court adjudicator and a member of the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada.
Emma (Halpin) Woodburn, the Crown attorney appointed in Dartmouth, is a Schulich School of Law alumna (Class of ’13). Also from Halifax, Emma worked in Poland as an international projects assistant with the Association of Entrepreneurship Promotion and as an English teacher in South Korea in between receiving her BA from Saint Mary’s University in 2006 and enrolling at Schulich Law. She articled with Stewart McKelvey and later was appointed an associate.
