BEGIN:VCALENDAR PRODID:-//Schulich School of Law//Events Calendar//EN VERSION:2.0 CALSCALE:GREGORIAN BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTAMP:20221130T043852Z DTSTART:20220914T160000Z DTEND:20220914T170000Z SUMMARY:Research Hour – My Home\, My Rights: Exploring Human Rights in Community Living DESCRIPTION:This year's Research Hour seminar series will launch with a special presentation by Professor Sheila Wildeman and the My Home My Rights Research Action team about their project: My Home\, My Rights: Exploring Human Rights in Community Living.\nThis project brought together a team of six core researchers labelled/with intellectual disabilities and other diverse social positionalities in order to explore human rights relating to disability and social inclusion. The core researchers worked with Sheila and other key team members over a period of almost two years to identify research questions\, reflect on those questions using arts-based methods\, and produce arts-based knowledge-mobilization and advocacy tools.\nProfessor Wildeman will be joined by Patricia Neves (Executive Director of Inclusion Nova Scotia\, the community partner in this SSHRC Partnership Engage project)\; three of six core team members -- Conar Clory\, Simon Snyder\, and Jenn Walters\; and other team members including interdisciplinary health research expert Dr. Paula Hutchinson\, social worker Sarah Cooper\, photographer David Simmonds and videographer Bruce Bottomley. \nTogether\, they will speak to the benefits and challenges of action research.
