LSS & Law Library Food Drive
Each year, Weldon hosts a food drive for Feed Nova Scotia in the lead-up to the holiday season. It's a very busy time of year for Feed NS, so let's rally together to help them out! Last year the school brought in over 2100 items, helping feed families across Nova Scotia, and we would love to make an even bigger donation this year.
The food drive runs from November 6 to December 3, 2019.
The food drive is a challenge between sections and faculty and staff, with the winner getting their name engraved on a very shiny plaque that will hang in the library forever (or at least a few years) and tell the world how amazing they are!
With that in mind, there is a slight change this year. In an effort to make the distribution more fair, this year students will be competing with their 1L sections. This means that all upper years will contribute towards the section they were in in first year. For example, if you were in section B your first year, you will contribute to the section B pile.
Important things to remember:
- Do not bring any expired food, badly dented/damaged or open packages of food or vitamins. They cannot be accepted, will be thrown out, and will not count towards your goal.
- Feed NS has a list of their "most needed" items. These include:
- soup and stew
- canned meat and fish
- canned vegetables and fruit
- pasta and rice
- pasta sauce
- peanut butter
- formula and baby food
- powdered and canned milk
- 1 item = 1 point, and the most points win! However, as we want to provide Feed NS with nutritious and high quality donations, we will award 3x the points if you bring in an item found on the "most needed" list above!
Section B holds the record among sections with 5 wins! Section C is close behind with 4 wins, while Section A has 1. Library, faculty & staff have 6 wins.
