Advisory Council

Since its inception, the IB&M Initiative has been shaped and supported by a Community Advisory Council, made up of Mi'kmaq and Indigenous Black lawyers, community members, Law School faculty members and the Director of the Initiative. The Advisory Council has played a critical role in ensuring that the Initiative responds to the needs and concerns of Mi'kmaq and African Nova Scotian communities.

IB&M Advisory Council Members are:

  • Ms Karen Hudson, Vice-Principal, Auburn Drive High School
  • Ms Heather McNeill, QC, Staff Lawyer, Dalhousie Legal Aid Service
  • Ms Shelly Martin, Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaq
  • Professor Michelle Williams, Director, IB&M Initiative
