Nov 2013 Seminar Videos

Joanna Erdman and Tamar Ezer spoke on "Human Rights Education in the Health Professions".  Their presentation reflected on an Open Society Foundations initiative supporting human rights education in patient care in nine countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, as well as the development of a Community of Practice, in light of human rights education theory.

Faculty in this initiative identified video as a particularly useful tool to engage students on human rights issues, and the presentation included two videos self-filmed by advocates, which faculty will be using in their teaching.

One video [view] focused on the lack of access to emergency services by Roma patients in Macedonia, and the second video [view] focused on prejudice and discrimination against transgender persons in Ukraine.
