Michael Monks PT
Michael, originally from Newfoundland; completed his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology Co-op (honours) and his Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) - Clinical Exercise Physiologist certificate at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2014. He went on to further his education by completing his Master's of Science in Kinesiology - Exercise and Work Physiology at MUN in 2016 and then to complete his Master's of Science in Physiotherapy at Dalhousie University in 2018.
After graduation, Michael completed additional training in movement impairment syndromes, paediatric orthopaedic assessment, and cognitive behavioural therapy for people with chronic low back pain. He is currently focusing on completing his levels in manual therapy through the National Orthopaedic Division.
Michael has worked in a paediatric outpatient clinic treating children with neurological, developmental, and orthopaedic concerns, as well as a private practice treating clients of all ages with orthopaedic concerns. His experience participating in sports and working with patients to get them back participating in activities that they enjoy led him to join the team at the Dalhousie Physiotherapy Clinic.
Michael is passionate about empowering individuals to achieve their goals, through providing education, exercise, manual techniques, and other evidence-based techniques.
