Assessment of the Hand and Wrist
This non-credit course is aimed at physiotherapists, physiotherapy students, physiotherapy assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy students, occupational therapy assistants and medical students. It is intended for novice - intermediate levels of learning, or as a refresher to prior knowledge.
This interactive course will focus on evaluation of the structures of the hand and wrist. A systematic approach will be used to assess ligamentous stability, muscle-tendon integrity and functioning, and neurovascular status. Pathological implications will be integrated and discussed. Special tests will also be studied to guide the participants in their clinical decision-making process for therapeutic interventions. Demonstrations and biomechanical examples will provide an exceptional learning experience

The course instructor is Karen Landry, BScOT, MSc, past-President of the Canadian Society of Hand Therapists (CSHT) and Scientific Chair for the CSHT Annual Conference. Karen works in private practice and holds a faculty position at Dalhousie’s School of Occupational Therapy. She has 31 years of clinical experience in hand and arm rehabilitation, and does research in the area of functional recovery and returning to work.
