Celebrating 65 Years!
Dalhousie University School of Nursing Celebrates 65th Anniversary in 2014. The upcoming year marks 65 years since the beginning of the undergraduate program in Nursing in 1949 but we trace our history to the post graduate certificates that Dalhousie offered in the 1920s and 30s. These included certificates in public health, teaching and administration for nurses who already held diplomas in Nursing. Later we offered post graduate diplomas in public health, community health and in outpost nursing in addition to the BScN. More recently, we added graduate degrees.
To mark this anniversary, and demonstrate our pride in our alumni, we have selected 65 individuals from our more than 6500 graduates – the School of Nursing’s “Inspiring Minds”- to profile. Over the next year and a half, bi-monthly, we will post brief bios and photos of 5-6 Dal Nursing Alumni who have made outstanding contributions to the profession, to patients, and to the health system. In late 2014, we will collate these into a single, downloadable electronic document. We think that you will agree that we can be justly proud of our graduates and we hope that you will join us in celebrating their accomplishments. Happy 65th Anniversary to the Dalhousie University School of Nursing!
