Biography

Carol has over 20 years experience in teaching and clinical experience. She has a strong record of leadership with professional associations and has provided leadership as the Director since 2012. She facilitated the adoption of the School’s first complete strategic plan (2013-2018) and continues to be very interested in research collaboration, quality improvements initiatives and fostering and sustaining alliances with academic and heath care sectors.

Research interests

Carol has a great interest in promoting research collaborations and increasing the School’s research capacity. She has a particular interest in research that involves the use of sonography. Having taught ultrasound physics and instrumentation courses in the School of Health Sciences for many years, she has a strong foundation in ultrasound imaging and technology.

Service & Activity

Carol has been actively involved and has a strong record of leadership with professional associations. She is a former Director for the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (CSDMS) and was the CSDMS representative for the Collaborative Forum on Allied Health providing national support for education, research and development in Allied Health. She was a member of the CSDMS National Competency Profile (NCP) Revalidation Project Steering Committee. She is a past president of the Nova Scotia Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (NSSDMS). As well as participating as an active member of several provincial and national conference planning committees, she has worked with the Canadian Medical Association Conjoint Accreditation Services as an accreditation surveyor/chair since 1999. Carol is a resource member of the NS Health Care Human Resource Sector and is currently a member of the NS Diagnostic Imaging and Pathology & Lab Medicine Initiative (DIPLMI) Health Human Resources Workgroup.
