On January 17, the ELEMENT Mentoring Program was launched at the School of Health Administration in the Tupper Building. The program is designed to offer experiential learning, advice, and direction from key experts and professionals to prepare mentees for their careers as emerging health leaders. The program was conceived by the School of Health Administration’s Executive-in-Residence, Robert Zed, President and CEO, Triangle Strategies (MHSA ’86).

Alejandro discovered Halifax and the MHA program by chance when the cruise ship he was working on as a medical doctor made a stop in the city. "I decided to walk up to Dalhousie while we were in port," he explains. "At that time, I only knew that Dal offered an MBA program.” When he arrived on campus he was directed to the MHA program.

The recipient of this award is a role model for health and wellness both in practice and by impacting others to lead a healthy lifestyle. This impact may be evidenced through peer-to-peer education, volunteering, service learning, global outreach or any activity that enhances quality of life and development.
