Immigration Information for Foreign Postdoctoral Fellows

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) recently announced changes to the International Mobility Program (IMP) that took effect on February 21, 2015. Changes to the IMP will affect foreign nationals who are applying for a work permit (or renewing/extending an existing work permit) that will be specific to Dalhousie University and that is exempt from the requirement for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). A compliance fee of $230 must be paid by the principal investigator/supervisor before the foreign worker applies for a new work permit, or for an extension to an existing work permit.

Postdoctoral Fellows should contact their supervisor to ensure they have all of the necessary documents for applying for a work permit.
