Changes to FGS Faculty Council
The 2014 Senate Review of FGS recommended that the structure of Faculty Council be changed. Following discussions and consultation with Faculty Council and the broader community, a revised structure and Terms of Reference (TOR) for council and its sub-committees was approved by FGS Faculty Council and the Senate Planning and Governance Committee in spring 2018.
An important aim of the new structure is improve communication between council and other academic and administrative units and to encourage greater diversity and representation on council from across the University.
In the coming weeks, FGS will be soliciting nominations for five members-at-large to serve on council. The details on the requirements of these positions are contained in the TOR and instructions for nominations will be communicated at the time of the call.
In addition, FGS will also be seeking a Chair for Faculty Council. Again, the details on the position are in the TOR.
We look forward to transitioning to this new model. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Marty Leonard, Dean of Graduate Studies.
