We’re excited to announce the prizes for the 2016 Three Minute Thesis competition:
First place: $1000 scholarship, name on commemorative plaque in FGS office, and an expense paid trip to the Eastern Regionals at MUN
Runner up: $500 scholarship
Third place: $250 scholarship
People’s choice (back by popular demand!): $250 scholarship
Yes, you can win cash and a trip in just three short minutes - it’s that simple! Plus, it’s fun!
Here’s what last year’s winner had to say about her experience:
“The 3MT competition forced me to take a step outside my research bubble and interpret my thesis with a new perspective. Instead of describing detailed analysis techniques, I could focus on the key results and motivate my work with analogies that everyone could relate to. It was a great exercise and now whenever someone asks what my thesis is about, I can explain it to them by talking about airplane turbulence and tequila!” – Justine MacMillan, 2015 Winner
There’s still time to register.
