Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship

For applicants wishing to be nominated by Dalhousie University, the internal institutional deadline is: September 30 at 9:00 p.m. AST

Dalhousie University is pleased to be a nominating institution for the highly prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. Named after Major-General Georges P. Vanier, the first francophone Governor General of Canada, the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Vanier CGS) was established in 2008 to strengthen Canada's ability to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning. Vanier Scholars demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health.

The award is valued at $50,000 per year for three years during doctoral studies and up to 166 scholarships are awarded annually. The competition considers three equally weighted selection criteria: Academic Excellence, Research Potential and Leadership. To be considered, your application must first be reviewed internally and then nominated by Dalhousie University.

Applicants are expected to review in detail the application instructions on the Vanier Canada website. It is highly recommended that you consult your supervisor, graduate coordinator and the Faculty of Graduate Studies at well in advance of the September 30 submission deadline to indicate your intent to seek a nomination.
