Nova Scotia Graduate Scholarship

The Nova Scotia Graduate Scholarship program provides over 3 million dollars per year in funding to research graduates at Dalhousie for innovative work aligned with or advancing Nova Scotia priorities (see NSGS Priority Areas of Research Alignment Justification form). The objectives of this award are to attract and retain top-quality research graduates, as well as to encourage exploration, discovery, and innovation in research priority areas for Nova Scotia. As a result, eligibility requires that students have not started their intended program of study until after the announcement of the award, and the intended research must align with one or more research area priorities.

A mapping of priority research areas to academic programs is provided as a guideline. Departments are required to justify the research area alignment during submissions to FGS using the NSGS Priority Areas of Research Alignment Justification form.

The Master’s level award is valued at $10,000/year for 2 years (subject to annual renewal). Doctoral level awards are valued at $15,000/year for 4 years (subject to annual renewal). Complete eligibility criteria and regulations governing the award are available below.

Applicants are nominated by departments through Dalhousie's Harmonized Scholarship Process.
