NSCC Articulation

Dalhousie's Faculty of Computer Science and the Nova Scotia Community College have formed an articulation agreement that allows students with an Information Technology Diploma from NSCC to apply to the Bachelor of Applied Computer Science (BACS) at Dalhouse with an advanced standing in the third year of the program.

NSCC students must be from the Database Application Programming, Programming or Web Programming concentrations with an average of 75 per cent or higher.

Students meeting Dalhousie’s entrance standards will receive between 51 and 60 credit hours (approx. 17 - 18 advanced courses) toward the 120 needed to graduate with a Bachelor of Applied Computer Science.

This agreement further builds on the opportunities for you as an NSCC graduate by providing additional options for continued learning and career development.

How it works

Entrance points are flexible. You can join the BACS program after a few years of working in industry, or directly from the completion of your NSCC diploma.

Depending on the number of courses per term that you decide to take, and whether you choose to complete the co-op program or not, it will take you 2 - 3 years to graduate from Dalhousie University.

Co-op

With a diploma from NSCC, you are equipped to pursue additional educational opportunities, including the Co-op program we offer - providing you with hands-on, paid learning experience.

The co-op component of your transition to the BACS program is optional, but it provides you with three placements of 14 weeks of fully paid work experience that helps you pay for your tuition, and more. Our placement rate within the Faculty of Computer Science is higher than 90%.
