What you want to know as a high school student in Nova Scotia

Your university-prep checklist

Grade 12

English 12

You are required to have this course - with a minimum 65% average - to apply to both the Bachelor of Applied Computer Science and Bachelor of Computer Science programs.

Math for the Bachelor of Computer Science program

Pre-calculus 12 is required - with a minimum 70% average - to apply to the Bachelor of Computer Science program.

Math for the Bachelor of Applied Computer Science program

Mathematics 12 (academic math) is required - with a minimum 65% average - to apply to the Bachelor of Applied Computer Science program. 

3 university-prep courses

You are required to complete three additional acceptable university-prep courses - with an average of 60% - to apply to both the Bachelor of Applied Computer Science and Bachelor of Computer Science programs.

Computer Programming 12 (optional)

This is not a required course, but may be eligible to count towards an academic credit in first year of the Bachelor of Applied Computer Science or Bachelor of Computer Science programs depending on grades.

 

Grade 11

English 11

You are required to complete your English 11 in order to complete your English 12 (needed to apply to both the Bachelor of Applied Computer Science and Bachelor of Computer Science programs).

Math for the Bachelor of Computer Science program

Pre-calculus math 11 is required in order to complete your Pre-calculus math 12 (needed to apply to the Bachelor of Computer Science program).

Mathematics 11

You are required to complete your Mathematics 11 if you wish to pursue any of the following:

 

Grade 10

Mathematics 10

Mathematics 10 is required if you want to pursue any path to university (see above).

English 10

You are required to complete English 10 to move onto your English 11 course (see above).

We have regular activities for junior high and high school students throughout the year including: 

Throughout the year, we also work with schools by sending groups of students/faculty into classrooms (or extracurricular activities) to help expose students to some basic (and fun!) concepts in computer science, as well as to showcase what a career might look like after one of our degrees (Bachelor of Applied Computer Science and Bachelor of Computer Science).
