Project Management Professional (PMP) Examination Prep Course

Duration

36 hours (8 weeks to complete)

This online program is designed to be completed within an eight-week period. It requires approximately 36 hours of self-study. At the end of eight weeks, students who have not completed the workshop will be graded as “incomplete” and will have to re-register.

Format

Online. Sessions are conducted using MP3 Format audio files, supported by PDF presentations. These can be completed by participants on their own time, at their own location. Although participants are taking the workshop on their own, you are not alone. Throughout the session, participants have access to the facilitator through email, where they can post questions, comments, or discuss details with others.

Students need the technology to download files and a place to store their files. They can listen to these MP3 files on a device of their choosing (computer, CD, MP3 player, IPOD).

Description

The Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is one of the most highly regarded credentials in today's business world. To guide you in obtaining this certification, Dalhousie University is offering a high-quality and flexible online training solution. Taking time from work and other daily priorities is not always feasible. Therefore, we have made available Virtual Learning System (VLS) which is a blend MP3 files that you listen to on your own priorities and schedule, a slide deck, question sets to measure your progress, and access to the facilitator.

Within this eight-week program, the 36 hours of training is spread over a manageable timeframe, giving you less stress and increased opportunity to pass on the first write.

Prerequisite

Interested in becoming a PMP? To ensure you have the prerequisites to write the PMP certification exam, please see www.pmi.org.

Textbook

Students are required to obtain a copy of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) 5th edition, to participate in this program. Books can be purchased online from the Project Management Institute (PMI) at www.pmi.org, through Amazon, or at Chapters. PMI members can download a copy of the PMBOK at no charge from www.pmi.org.

You Will Receive

As a participant, you are provided with:

  • A complete preparation workbook, with about 400 slides to guide you through your self-study program. Divided into 14 Modules, each module represents a chapter of the PMBOK.
  • Audio (MP3) files that are effectively the teaching of the session. Although these follow the workbook, they are designed for you to listen to on your personal listening device, while mobile, running, or travelling to work.
  • Question sets that follow the chapters of the PMBOK. Two should be completed each week to provide a flow to your learning. Completion of these question sets is required to obtain a course certificate.
  • Recommendations for additional on-line question sets and support tools for exam preparation
