Based on the practices in the Project Management Institute's PMBOK v5® Guide, this course explains the methods used to initiate and plan a project. Exploring the tools and techniques used to set a project on a course towards success, you learn how to establish measurable project goals and the steps necessary to engage stakeholders, gather requirements, establish project scope and build the plan against which the project will be executed. Covering all of the components of an effective plan, the course presents techniques for planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, communications, HR and quality management. Focusing on the need to build a plan that best meets the needs of the project and that aligns with organization needs; this course looks at how different approaches are needed under different circumstances.
Note: This course introduces the use of MS Project as a scheduling tool and will be integrated into all assignments.
Prerequisite: Project Management Fundamentals.
