Law Enforcement personnel at all levels/ranks will benefit from the materials, resources and assignments involved in each of the certificate courses. If you are a new officer, it is beneficial to have at least a few years experience in your field, as some assignments will require the application of police-specific skills and access to police resources. You may want to check with the Program Director to see which course(s) are applicable for your level of police experience.
There are no educational prerequisites for entry into any of the Police Leadership courses. However, if you have not been involved in post-secondary courses before, you will benefit from consulting with the Program Director to get advice on which course to take first.
Since the courses are online almost all the assessments are based on written submissions. If you feel that you need to improve your writing skills before engaging in the Police Leadership Program, you may want to consider the online Writing Skills for Academic Study course.
