Course Option 1:
English for Specific Purposes + an Academic Elective (96 hours)

English for Specific Purposes

Through participation in lectures, projects, presentations, podcasts, and online discussion forums, you will apply language skills in the content areas of science, business, computer science or social sciences. For example, if you are an engineer or studying engineering, you will learn specific vocabulary and study materials to be competent in your area of study or work.

AND

An Academic Elective

Choose from academic elective options taught by expert instructors and researchers at Dalhousie University. You will study a university level academic subject. Content incudes both Canadian and international perspectives. Key topics, vocabulary, practices, and skills enable you to complete task-based projects and assignments, working closely with instructors and others in the course in an interactive stimulating learning environment.

Business Communication

Improve the skills you will need for the international workplace. The focus is on written and oral skills for employment.

Introduction to Sustainability: Exploring the Ecological Footprint

Explore topics related to the environment, sustainability and society. Topics include energy use, water and air pollution, climate change and world population pressures.

Course Option 2:

English for Specific Purposes (60 hours)

Through participation in lectures, projects, presentations, podcasts, and online discussion forums, you will apply language skills in the content areas of science, business, computer science or social sciences. For example, if you are an engineer or studying engineering, you will learn specific vocabulary and study materials to be competent in your area of study or work.

Course Option 3:
An Academic Elective (36 hours)

Choose from academic elective options taught by expert instructors and researchers at Dalhousie University. You will study a university level academic subject. Content incudes both Canadian and international perspectives. Key topics, vocabulary, practices, and skills enable you to complete task-based projects and assignments, working closely with instructors and others in the course in an interactive stimulating learning environment.

CEFR Level Requirement

  • A CEFR level of B1+ is required
  • After processing your registration, we will provide you with online placement test information to determine your level. There is no charge for you to take our online placement test.
