Culture as a driver for Economic Development

The 7th annual student conference to be held on Friday, April 6, 2018, at 12:00-2:30 pm will bring together the third-year Economics students from Dalhousie University’s joint 2+2 programs with Shandong University of Finance and Economics and Renmin University in China to share their perspectives on the role of culture as a driving force in economic development globally. Students’ presentations are based on the coursework from ENSL0005, Academic Writing and Research Skills — a course specifically designed for international students to help develop their skills and abilities in academic writing, research, and presentation skills.  

Special Guests:

  • Prof. Talan Iscan, Chair, Department of Economics
  • Dr. Carolyn Watters, Provost and vice-president, academic
  • Andrew G. Cochrane, Dean, College of Continuing Education
  • Prof. Barry Lesser, Director China Program Dalhousie University

We will also hear remarks from David Packer, Director of ESL Programs, Shazia Nawaz Awan, Ed.D., ESL Instructor & Coordinator of ENSL. Program instructor, Anthony Rusinak, will also be present.

Light refreshments will be provided.
