Dalhousie University College of Continuing Education is one of Atlantic Canada's leading organizations in the field of adult and continuing education. As a senior academic unit it shares the University's commitment to the extension of knowledge to all sectors and groups in the community.
Over the years, the College of Continuing Education has provided its consulting and facilitation services to three levels of government, to professional associations, and to the private sector. These services are provided by the College's own faculty, and partnership with others recognized for their expertise in a particular field. In general, our approach has been to work with organizations not only to remedy problems, but also to increase their capacity to deal with similar problems that may arise in the future. The College's competencies are in the following areas:
- organizational governance and community leadership
- management education in the private, public and nonprofit sectors
- strategic planning
- adult education
- community development
- community consultation, collaboration and conflict resolution
The above consulting services extend to assistance in applied research projects of interest to organizations and communities. This includes educational or training needs assessment.
