Biography:
Emilia Santos-Montero M.A., Cert. Trans. is a graduate of the University of Salamanca, Spain. She has taught in schools in Scotland, the University of Wales, Aberysthwyth, and locally at Saint Mary’s University and Mount Saint Vincent University before joining the faculty of the Department of Spanish at Dalhousie in 1998.

Ms. Santos-Montero’s areas of specialty are language and translation. She is the organizer and one of the examiners of the internationally recognized Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (DELE) offered at Dalhousie every May. She is also the coordinator of the study abroad, Salamanca Program, in Spain. She has worked as a translator and interpreter for government and private companies. She is a member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Nova Scotia and a marker for the national accreditation examination organized by the Canadian Translators and Interpreters Council in Ottawa. Her interests include music, foreign films, travelling and reading contemporary Canadian and English literature.
