Announcing the 2025/2026 Marjorie Mader Award winners!
Boqi Feng is a remarkable young student from China, whose studies at Dalhousie have been partially funded by a 'Global Scholars Award', and who is planning to complete a Major in German. This summer she is going to take an intensive four-week language program at the Ruprecht-Karls Universität of Heidelberg, for credit toward that degree.

Clara Shaw hails from Ontario, and is pursuing a Co-op Degree in Marketing with a Minor in German; she has had a long-standing interest in volunteering and not-for-profit organizations. Her interest in German comes from her German-speaking grandmother, and from a previous visit to Berlin. In the coming year she will spend a whole semester on an exchange at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, and is very excited for this experience.
Each of these students are receiving $2000 toward their academic studies in Germany, thanks to the generosity of the Mader family.
In honour of Marjorie Mader, this scholarship is awarded to one or more students participating in an approved study abroad program with the Department of German. Learn more here.
