Vittorio Frigerio studied Fine Arts before doing a BA in Translation and eventually an MA and PhD with a specialization in Nineteenth-Century French literature. His main fields of interest are the novel, Romanticism, late 19th century “decadent” writing, the relationship between novels and ideology, and most of all popular literature and its various genres (adventure novels, science-fiction, detective stories). He has studied at length the works of Alexandre Dumas père.

His most recent research focuses on literary productions within the sphere of anarchist militant papers in France. He has created in 2001 the electronic journal Belphégor, which has become the official journal of the Association internationale des chercheurs en Littératures Populaires et Culture Médiatique (LPCM). Parallel to his research he has written a few novels and two collections of short stories.
