Monica Leung Receives H. Allen Brooks Traveling Scholarship

Posted by Steve Parcell on February 2, 2018 in Architecture

Monica Leung (MArch 2011) recently received an H. Allen Brooks Traveling Fellowship from the Faculty of Architecture and Planning.

This major fellowship ($40,000) was established in 2011 by Professor H. Allen Brooks, a distinguished architectural historian who was an authority on Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier.  In his legacy, Professor Brooks established three H. Allen Brooks Traveling Fellowships: for Dartmouth College, the Society of Architectural Historians, and Dalhousie University. It supports study by travel and contemplation while observing, sketching, reading, writing, and having time free to think and mature while acquiring knowledge useful for the award holder’s future work and contribution to the profession and to society.

Monica is studying cultural approaches to housing for seniors. This will include travels in Canada, Japan, Denmark, and the Netherlands. During her travels, we can read her blog, Home: Housing our Mature Elders, at https://housingourmatureelders.wordpress.com/.
