Gardening has become an increasingly popular activity throughout this pandemic. 

Understanding the science, basic functions of the plant, the soil and the environment, just to name few, all come into play when executing the perfect garden.  

Extended Learning branched out west this academic year to offer Albertans continuing education opportunities to grow their passion for gardening.  EL is thrilled to see the interest received in this region.  The program saw 54 Albertans registered in two courses, The Science of Gardening and Maintaining the Garden, over the three intakes (October, November, and February). 

The Master Gardener Training Program that has been offered for many years in the Atlantic and Ontario regions and was revised by the instructor, Colleen Tanner, specifically for those living in Alberta and adapted to their zoning.  These courses will run until the end of July and start back up again in October 2021.
