Position: Part-time Academics – Fall 2017

Department: Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences

Pay Rate: In accordance with the CUPE collective agreement

Work Assignment: This Part-time Academic will teach Lectures for HORT4000 Urban Tree Management for the period of September – December 2017. The class is currently scheduled for Mondays (11:35-12.55) Tuesdays (2:35-3.55pm) – Lectures and labs on Tuesdays (11.35-2.25pm). The Part-time Academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, running labs, field tours, test preparation and evaluation. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

At least one year experience in teaching in a postsecondary educational institution. Excellent oral, written communication skills, Collegiality and interpersonal skills. PhD in Landscape Horticulture, Forestry or related disciplines OR Masters with two year experience in Landscape Horticulture, Forestry or related disciplines.

Work Assignment: This Part-time Academic will teach Lectures for AGRI 2000 Transition to Organic Agriculture for the period of September – December 2017. This course is a distance course, which requires significant online delivery knowledge and familiarity with the Brightspace. The Part-time Academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the online class, including lectures, test preparation and evaluation online. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

At least one year experience in teaching in a postsecondary educational institution. Excellent oral, written communication and computer skills, Collegiality and interpersonal skills. PhD in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Science, Cropping System, Organic Agriculture or related disciplines OR Masters with two year experience in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Science, Cropping Systems, Organic Agriculture or related disciplines.
